Help
Several types of searches & filters are available. Searches are
currently optional, but not specifying any search terms
can cause lengthy lists to be downloaded to your reader.
-
Keyword Search: Currently this is a simple search.
Entering a term will cause the search engine to look for
an exact match of your term in the following fields: Keywords,
URL, Title and Abstract of a link. There are no wild cards or
Boolean searches (future plans), but you can enter
partial words. We recommend using stubs for keywords.
For example, if you are looking for the Card Mall, try
using the stub 'Mall'. You may get more than you are
looking for but you will get what you are looking for.
-
Type Filter: Check off any or all of the types
of cards that you are interested in. This is generally
the fastest, most reliable type of search because Collector-Link
staff 'type' each URL.
-
Date Filter: This field refers to the date that the
link was added to the Collector Link database. If you are only
looking for new links, you'll find this field useful. Don't
ignore the older entries. The really good sites have been around
a long time and are always changing.
-
Display links starting with letter:
As the datbase got larger, it became necessary to provide a means of delimiting
searches even further. This filter accepts a character of the
alphabet and causes the search engine to only display those
links whose titles start with that letter of the alphabet.
You may use either upper or lower case letters.
Note: You may use a combination of the
four to further delimit your search.
